Participant
Someone who takes part in a production in any role. This includes cast, crew, contributors and staff, whether contracted by a production company or service provider.

Perceived
Information about how people, characters, settings or themes may be perceived onscreen. It is based on the completer's perception rather than factual information or self-reported identity. Perceived data contributes to industry-wide research on how people, settings and stories are represented onscreen.
Diamond linking code
A reusable code that a participant can provide instead of an email address to link their Diamond survey data to the project. The same code can be used across multiple projects.
Guidance
Notifying participants
Before submitting participant (cast & crew) information to Diamond, you must notify participants in writing of the following.

Their details will be entered into Diamond so they can be invited to take part in the Diamond survey.

The information shared will be either:

their name, email address and role on the production; or
-
their name, Diamond Linking Code and role on the production.

Participation in the survey is voluntary.

If you are an onscreen main contributor, perceived data will also be captured as part of Diamond data collection. This is based on portrayal in the content.

Participants can choose to opt out of having their information submitted to Diamond. Participants who opt out should not be entered into Diamond, but a tally should be taken in the "Opted out" field. Participants will be able to opt back into Diamond at any point.
Project data
Project data includes the following.

Project and episode details. These are key aspects of a project, such as its title, language, start date and episode duration.

Suppliers. These are companies or individuals who provide services for the project, for example, a post-production facility. You will enter the email address of your main contact.

Perceived data. This is information about how elements of the project may be perceived onscreen.

Onscreen and crew lists. These should include everyone involved in the project, including their name, role, and either an email address or Diamond linking code.
Where available, some of this information will be provided by the funder. Please complete the remaining fields before submitting your data for funder approval.
Perceived data
Production companies are asked to provide information about how people and content may be perceived onscreen. This includes selecting key themes and settings for a project, and completing perceived demographic information for eligible onscreen characters or contributors. Responses should reflect the submitter's own perception of the content and there are no right or wrong answers.

Perceived data helps build a picture of the diversity audiences may experience through viewing television content and how different communities, stories and settings are represented on a pan-industry scale.
When producing scripted content, production companies must complete the project themes and settings fields, and main contributor characteristics fields. When producing unscripted content, production companies must complete the main contributor characteristics fields. Eligible contributors will be highlighted by Diamond, based on details in the onscreen roles list.
