Diamond is a groundbreaking online system used by the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Paramount (formerly Viacom), UKTV, and Sky to obtain consistent diversity data for the programs they commission. As far as we know, no other broadcasting industry in the world has developed a cross-industry approach to collecting and publishing diversity data, backed by its leading TV broadcasters.
This initiative is supported by Pact and ScreenSkills (formerly Creative Skillset), and delivered through CDN.
The data collected focuses on 6 key elements for people working on and off-screen on all UK-oriented productions: gender, identity, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and disability.
What is Diamond? Diamond allows us to answer the key questions ‘Who’s on TV?’ and ‘Who makes TV?’ with greater confidence. It enables the main UK broadcasters and commissioning organisations – BBC, Channel 4, ITV, LumoTV (previously BSLBT), Paramount/Channel 5, S4C, Sky, UKTV, and Warner Bros. Discovery – to collect and report on the diversity of TV production in the UK. If you are working on or off-screen on a UK-originated production commissioned by one of these broadcasters, you may be asked to complete a short diversity form. The initiative is managed by CDN on behalf of these broadcasters.
How can I help? By completing the Diamond diversity form, you can help ensure that everyone is reflected in the workforce statistics for the TV industry. It only takes about two minutes to complete, and you can choose which data you are happy to share and which you prefer not to.
What’s in the form? Diamond will ask the people who work in television (both on- and off-screen) for their personal diversity information for eight key characteristics. You can select ‘prefer not to disclose’ for any question you choose. - Gender - Gender identity - Age - Ethnicity - Sexual orientation - Disability - Religion - Socioeconomic background The purpose of collecting diversity data from people working on TV productions is to answer the question: ‘Does the workforce on UK productions reflect the diversity of the UK population?’
Why were changes made to the form? In 2025, we added religion and socioeconomic background to the data we collect. As the leading body on industry-wide diversity reporting, we continuously refine our data collection to ensure accuracy, inclusivity, and relevance. We engaged with cast, crew, and industry experts to inform these changes so that it better reflects the diversity of our industry and addresses where there are gaps in representation.
Can I update my responses after submitting them? Yes. You can correct or update information at any time by getting in touch with the production company you worked with or following this link. If you want to request a copy of the personal data held about you in Diamond, please make a request in writing to Soundmouse Limited at subjectaccessrequest@silvermouse.com, who will manage the process on our behalf.
Is my data confidential? Yes. CDN upholds the highest privacy standards. We adhere to strict privacy rules that ensure individuals are never identified in reports. After two years, the information submitted on your Diamond Diversity Monitoring Form will no longer be linked to your User ID. The next time you contribute to a production commissioned by a Diamond Broadcaster, you will receive an invitation to complete a new Diamond Diversity Monitoring Form. You can also ask for your data to be deleted at any time by emailing diversityadmin@silvermouse.com
Who decided on these changes? CDN led an extensive consultation process, engaging diversity and inclusion experts, industry bodies, cast and crew, and data specialists. As the trusted voice on diversity in broadcasting, we ensure that all updates are rooted in data-driven insights and industry needs.
Do I have to complete every section? No. While participation is optional, your data plays a vital role in shaping a more inclusive industry. The more responses we collect, the stronger the case for positive change.
Do I have to complete this form for every production? No. The name and email address combination you first used to submit your Diamond Diversity Monitoring Form is used to create a unique registration in the Diamond system (your User ID). Your User ID will link you to a role in the production and enables us to link your diversity information to the programmes you have worked on or will work on, in the future. Read our privacy policy

What’s new? More ethnicity options – We’ve introduced 49 new response options (to a total of 69) making it the most inclusive form we’ve ever had. These options are available via a Search As You Type field to allow people to more accurately represent themselves. New questions on religion and socioeconomic background – These additions help us track and address issues such as anti-Jewish racism, Islamophobia, and the lack of working-class representation in television.
Why are ethnicity options still limited? This update is part of a long-term strategy to ensure Diamond remains the industry standard for diversity and inclusion data. While we are working toward a fully evolved form in the next two years, we have prioritised immediate updates based on industry feedback, good practice, and consistency with key statistical bodies like Ofcom and the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
What if I don’t see myself represented? We recognise that identity is complex and evolving. While we strive for full inclusivity, we also balance privacy and reporting requirements. We are committed to ongoing improvements and welcome your feedback at enquiries@creativediversitynetwork.com.
Why did these changes take time to implement? As the industry leader in cross-industry diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy, we take measured steps to make room for careful consideration and attention to detail. These updates required significant improvements to the system to ensure that the new data collection is robust, secure, and fit for purpose. Every update undergoes rigorous testing to maintain Diamond’s reputation as a gold standard in industry reporting.
When will this new data be reported? The new data will feature in our next annual report expected in July 2026, providing the industry with fresh insights to drive change.
Does Diamond data influence hiring or commissioning decisions? No. Diamond is a trusted, independent data collection system. Your responses are secure and anonymised, and no hiring or commissioning decisions are based on them.
How is Diamond data used to drive change? For over seven years, CDN has been at the forefront of industry change, using Diamond data to push for policy shifts, drive diversity and inclusion initiatives, and hold the industry accountable. This data has helped many initiatives including: Doubling Disability's representation goal: exposing inequalities across on-screen and off-screen roles Informing progressive hiring and commissioning practices. By sharing your information, you’re helping us challenge systemic barriers and ensure long-term equity in TV broadcasting.
Where can I access the updated form? You will get the new form the next time you are invited to participate in Diamond via your production company.
Who can I contact for more information? For any other questions, you can email enquiries@creativediversitynetwork.com.
